Day 3 was our last day in Barnetby. Getting onto the station for aroound 6:30am payed off, as 66721 was working the same diagram as the day before which I had just missed having not got up early enough!
The long journey home was broken up first of all by visiting Tupton, getting there for around 12:00. This location has certainly changed over the years, much trace of the former Avenue exchange sidings having dissapered under trees. Indeed, the road bridge that gave access to these has in very recent years been demolished and an embankment now replaces it. The new cross overs here replace the former junction complex at Clay Cross, which is no longer a junction. Speaking of Clay Cross, we stopped off here too briefly, another location almost changed beyond recognition. Another short stint was around the corner on the Erewash Valley route at North Wingfield, now reduced to double track at this location.
Finally the day was rounded off at Barrow Upon Trent, on the freight only line between Stenson Junction and Trent Junction.
