Day 1 started a tad earlier than usual. Struggling to think of what to do first of all on the way up, the decision was made to try and get the Up Caledonian Sleeper at Cathiron, north of Rugby on the WCML. This meant getting there for just after 6:00am, which in turn meant leaving Bridgwater at the unearthly hour of 3:30am!
Traffic was fantastic for the 2-3 hours spent here, with much freight to be had at this time in the morning and a nice mixture of workings.
The next stop was at Thurmaston (between Leicester & Syston), which was really for the sake of finding somewhere different nearby where the sun was ok and where at least some East Midlands HST's could be grabbed. Then it was to Cossington (between Syston & Sileby) where the freight was a bit better but not up to the usual standards.
Finally we arrived in Barnetby late aftenoon/early evening and did a few shots either side of a well anticipated meal and pint!
